The diverse fashion in Sinchon streets

EVERYONE IS looking for ways to express themselves. Whether it is by stripping down a complete outfit from a mannequin, discovering an item while surfing the Internet, or getting inspiration from celebrities, people enjoy expressing their unique and personal characteristics through fashion. For this issue, *The Yonsei Annals* explored our school grounds in search for those who screamed “trendy.”

Nowadays, we easily spot people wearing all-black outfits or bold, big prints.

“My mom chose this dress for me, so I think of my mom whenever I wear it.” Apart from her all-white outfit standing out amongst the dull and grey buildings within the campus, she also caught our eyes because while many wear all-black confidently, it is slightly hard to pull off a complete outfit with white.

“Paris is not as trendy as people think. We think the people in Paris do not take a lot of time choosing their outfit and mostly shop online. But, we see more people buying clothes out in the streets in Korea. We have seen many girls in Korea and thought, ‘She is so cute,’ or ‘What a pretty outfit.’ The girls here are very classy.”

These young girls in the university campus looked so innocent. Apart from their clear ensemble, their socks revealed a playful side. The girl on the far right especially, chose loud checkered slip-ons with bold-lettered socks to match her delicate pink pants.

From a few feet away, her cheerful and colorful persona stood out among the crowd. When asked to describe her style, she said, “I go for the comfortable style.” Even though to some, that bright red dress might not seem relaxing, every person has a different definition and for her, her outfit was relaxing.

“I mostly wear an all-black outfit with a pop of color. By wearing black, I try to pass the message: do not mess up with me. However, the bright colors show I am also expressive.

Since every single person has their own fashion, it is impossible to define them as stylish or not. Feminine people, classy people, bold people, colorful people…the list goes on and on and no single person falls into one specific category. We are all “people with style.”
