GO ON the Internet and browse a Korean site, and more often than not you’d be confronted with an alert asking you to install an ActiveX program. For most of us, this is standard procedure; we click “yes” and move on. Little do we give the alert another thought. But what is ActiveX? And why do we need it? The program, after all, is hardly used in other parts of the world, including the United States, where Active X was first invented.

This month, *The Yonsei Annals* seeks to compare the Korean and American organ donation systems to find out the answer.

The rudderless holiday system has scraped away the red coloring of the calendars and has left Koreans yearning for an improved lineup in the following year. It comes as no surprise that statistically, Koreans work longer than any other citizenry, with non-working days at decade-low this year. So the question arises on how Korea may improve its entrenched yet stale holiday model-and the answer begins in China.
